From Coach Beal:
There still has not been a decision made about our preliminary game. Options are still being looked at by Medway/Ashland. Right now the game is either 8:30pm on Wednesday at Blackstone Valley again or 7:40pm on Thursday at New England Sports Center in Marlborough. Both are very late for our athletes to travel and we have asked that they try to find an earlier sheet for us as we will not get home until after midnight. We will plan on busing the kids there to the game but I think it's wise to send them home with you again. It's a difference of at least an hour if we do that. They are student athletes and not athlete students and they are expected to be in school the next morning on time. I need to get an idea if we can pull this off again and rely on you parents to bring them home. Ted and I can take 2 or 3 if needed. Please let me know if you plan on going to the game and would be able to bring your player and possibly someone else's home. Coach Beal received this email from the Martha's Vineyard Girls Hockey Coach who coaches the Bay State Games Girls' Team. Below is some information about the summer tournament and the registration page. It's a great opportunity to play this summer in a tournament with some great competition.
"I (John Fiorito) am coaching the Bay State Games team (Coastal/Southeast) this summer, and I would really appreciate if you could get the word out to your players about the opportunity. While it is admittedly not the most prestigious summer tournament, it is one of the least expensive. The first tryout is March 15 at 12:30pm at Gallo Arena. We will have other tryouts/practices in the late spring and early summer in preparation for the July (July 9-12) tournament in Foxboro. Please have any interested players sign up on the Bay State Games site. There is a tryout fee, and if the player makes the team, a finalist fee." http://www.baystategames.org/ice-hockey If any of your players or parents have questions, they can feel free to email me at any time. Thanks for your help. John Fiorito Martha's Vineyard Girl's Hockey Today's JV Game is apparently at Pilgrim Rink in Hingham, NOT Hobomock!
Sorry for the late change! -John From Coach Beal:
The JV team will be playing Scituate on Friday 2/20 at 3pm at Hobomock Rink in Pembroke. Please let me know if you are unable to attend. Right now I have coming: 1. Kate McCarthy 2. Taylor Frederick 3. Sara Barry 4. Madison Jones 5. Olivia Arnold 6. Lizzy Suzedell 7. Emily Lengyel Not Coming: 1. Sarah Twinney 2. Meredith Corry 3. Grace Ryan Need to Hear From: 1. Elizabeth Arruda 2. Mia Martone 3. Lucy St Sauveur 4. Bennett Tierney Tomorrow evening's game has been moved to 5pm. The location has not changed. Coach Beal just spoke with the Latin Academy coach and he has warned her that navigating and parking around the building is a nightmare and we'd be best served to arrive very early. Target arriving well before you normally would.
Last night at the All Star Selection mtg we secured four spots for the SEMGHL-NE Team.
Our selections were: Shea Kearney Jr Goalie Cohasset Valerie Farren Sr Forward Cohasset Callie Hoadley So Center Hanover Cassidy Bodie So Defense Hanover The game is Saturday Feb 21 at 4:30pm at Gallo Rink in Bourne. Come cheer your teammates on! The best place to try to find parking would be at the school behind the Mass Ave T station. If you come down Mass Ave, take a left onto Columbus Ave and take your first right onto Northampton. The road bends to the left and becomes a parking lot at the school (not sure of the name of the school). You can park there and walk over the footbridge to the back of Matthews.
From Coach Beal:
JV Girls and Parents, Scituate has asked the JV to a final game at Hobomock on Friday February 20th at 3pm. I am hesitant to commit until I know who is traveling over break and who will be here. Could you please send me an email or text me and let me know if you are available to play and if we can come up with 10 people I will tell him yes. The sooner the better as he may give away the ice if I don't respond. I'd like to know by tomorrow afternoon please. |
